On 24 August, the man—married for ten years—uploaded a now-deleted Facebook post that included video clips of a confrontation. The footage shows him opening the door of a BMW, where his wife was seated, before turning the camera on a man in medical scrubs, believed to be the doctor.
The man in question has been identified as Dr. Wong Lu Yang, the now-suspended president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kota Bharu and owner of DW Aesthetic by Medicure Klinik in Tanah Merah. Following the incident, Dr. Wong released a video apology to his wife and family, admitting that they had been dealing with the circulation of private content for months. He revealed that he had already confessed to his wife earlier and had sought her forgiveness, adding that they are working together to rebuild their marriage.
“I chose to be honest with my partner and ask for her forgiveness. Together, we are committed to healing and moving forward,” Dr. Wong said in his statement. He also expressed gratitude to his wife for standing by him despite the painful circumstances.
Dr. Wong acknowledged that legal action has already begun and urged the public to give both families privacy and respect. He stressed that those behind the circulation of the videos and photos would be held accountable.
Meanwhile, JCI Kota Bharu confirmed his suspension, clarifying that the scandal is a personal matter and does not involve the organization’s mission or community work. Leadership has temporarily been passed to the former president, Tan Zhi Qian.
The scandal has also earned Dr. Wong the nickname “BMW Doctor,” as the viral videos showed him in a BMW 330e. His passion for luxury cars was once admired online, especially after he shared his BMW X4 purchase, but the current backlash has overshadowed his image.
The situation sparked intense reactions on social media, forcing JCI Kota Bharu to release a public appeal urging netizens to stop spamming and attacking their platforms. The organization reminded the public that such behavior disrupts their volunteerism and community service.
Dr. Wong, in his own Facebook post, suggested that he had been the target of blackmail attempts, but refused to compromise. He expressed regret that his wife had to face emotional distress once again, while also reaffirming his commitment to taking responsibility and protecting his family’s well-being.
