In the clip, the 23-year-old Brisbane Broncos fullback was seen crouching next to his toilet, scooping up water with his hand, and drinking it. He claimed it was a “new way to help muscle recovery” after a match.
The stunt immediately raised concerns, with many viewers alarmed at the unusual act. However, it was soon revealed that the video was nothing more than a joke. The Broncos later clarified that Walsh is renovating his home and had just installed a brand-new toilet, which had never been used. Despite this, the club was not impressed and described the video as a poor attempt at humour, stressing that nobody should take it seriously. Walsh eventually removed the video.
The bizarre prank even caught the attention of rugby league legend Brad Fittler, who expressed disbelief at what he saw. Meanwhile, Broncos officials reminded fans that the clip should not be taken at face value.
This is not the first time Walsh has stirred controversy online. Earlier this year, he shared another video on TikTok where he was filmed punching a friend while wearing boxing gloves. Although both men laughed it off, the club was privately frustrated. Walsh later apologised, saying it was a joke gone too far and admitting he needed to make better decisions about what he shared online. He also offered a donation to the Black Dog Institute, a mental health charity partnered with the Broncos.
Despite the off-field antics, Walsh has been a standout performer for the Broncos this season. In 17 appearances, he has scored 10 tries, kicked 21 goals, and set up 19 assists, proving himself as one of the NRL’s most exciting young talents. With his form, he remains a key player as Brisbane chase a top-four finish in the competition.
